Language Support Expanded With Shaping And Ligature Module
Zi now offers additional shaping and ligature modules to assist OEMs with the rendering and display of complex languages. These modules help reduce display implementation difficulties common to more-complex languages, such as ligature issues and proper font display. Currently available modules include Arabic, Farsi and Hindi.
These modules work in unison with eZiType™, eZiText™ or traditional multi-tap text entry engines, and are capable of joining and shaping texts while effectively adhering to ligature rules.
A module works by handling isolated characters received or entered by the user, and providing the correct glyphs according to established linguistic rules. Zi shaping and ligature modules will help reduce a manufacturer's engineering effort and time-to-market for devices targeted for these emerging markets.
