Zi Corporation presents eZiText Korean version 4.5
Seoul, Korea (May 9, 2001) - Today at Expo Comm Wireless Korea, Zi Corporation (NASDAQ: ZICA) (TSE: ZIC) unveiled its newest version of eZiText Korean. This enhanced version allows Korean text to be entered 200 per cent faster than traditional multi-tap text entry methods, improving the user experience of wireless devices for Korean consumers.
eZiText Korean version 4.5 allows the user to compose Hangul characters using one touch Jamo text entry. As the user enters the necessary Jamos, eZiText's predictive engine guides a user to the intended Hangul characters, making eZiText fast and easy to use for both the novice and expert user. Unlike other systems, eZiText Korean offers true Hangul characters, eliminating confusing or nonsensical Hangul candidates.
"Manufacturers looking to distinguish their products in the lucrative Korean market, can now license eZiText Korean version 4.5 to tailor their wireless and consumer devices for Korean users," says Gordon Tsang, director, Sales, Zi Corporation. "Whole phrases can be entered in Korean in only a few key presses with eZiText Korean, one of the only text entry methods that predicts common phrases."
Korea is an important wireless market with a 57 per cent wireless penetration rate at year-end 2000, translating to more than 26 million users. Network providers in Korea are advancing toward 3G services and are expected to launch in late 2002. The Electronic Telecom Research Institute (ETRI) predicts that by 2005 there will be over 38 million wireless subscribers in Korea with the majority subscribing to 3G services.
