Zi Corporation announces appointment of new directors
Calgary, AB (June 8, 2001) - Zi Corporation (NASDAQ: ZICA) (TSE: ZIC) is pleased to announce the election of its new board of directors. During the Zi Corporation annual meeting on June 7, 2001, Zi Corporation shareholders voted to elect the entire slate of director nominees to the board of directors for the year 2001. The six board members elected were Michael Lobsinger, Derrick Armstrong, Simon Jiang, Rod Love, Thompson MacDonald and Angus Michael Roderick Mackenzie. New to Zi Corporation’s board this year are Rod Love and Angus Michael Roderick Mackenzie.
Rod Love brings expertise in strategic planning, political and intergovernmental analysis, issues management, communications planning and media management to the Zi Corporation board of directors. For over 18 years, Mr. Love served as a senior advisor within the public service at both the municipal and provincial levels. Currently, Mr. Love is president and owner of Rod Love Consulting Inc., a firm specializing in providing customized services in strategic planning and issues management.

Michael Mackenzie brings extensive experience in corporate governance to the Zi Corporation board of directors. For over 15 years, Mr. Mackenzie has held leadership positions with a variety of Hong Kong based organizations. Currently, Mr. Mackenzie is Chairman, Mayfair Cellars Group; Chairman, Tasmanian Vineyards Pty; Director, Taltarni Vineyards; Director, The Lindsell Train Investment Trust PLC; and Directeur-Général and managing partner at Champagne Jacquesson & Fils.
