Korea’s leading mobile Internet company to embed Zi technology

Calgary, AB (June 27, 2000) - Zi Corporation (NASDAQ: ZICA) (TSE: ZIC) has licensed its predictive software, eZiText™, to Korean communications giant, LG (formerly GoldStar) Information & Communications Ltd. (LGIC) following a competitive bid process. LGIC is known for its work on several communication platforms including the development and commercialization of the CDMA system, the commercialization of PCS and its research on W-CDMA. The license allows LGIC to embed eZiText™ in any cellular phone product they manufacture.

Zi will assist LGIC’s market expansion plans by providing eZiText™ in 24 languages including Korean, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, English, French and German. Zi currently supports 24 languages on a variety of platforms. eZiText™ will initially be implemented in LGIC’s GSM phones, which are destined for European and Chinese markets.

LGIC currently leads the mobile Internet market in Korea. Their CYON handset brand is used to access the Internet by 59 percent of all users in the domestic mobile Internet market. LGIC is preparing to move aggressively into the international mobile Internet market.
