Zi Corporation issues clarification on Corporate Profile


Calgary, AB (October 19, 2001) - Zi Corporation (NASDAQ: ZICA) (TSE: ZIC) was the subject of a small cap stock report issued by National Financial Communications Corp. This report was issued and made available online at www.nfnonline.com/zica/report.html on October 18, 2001. This report was inadvertently replaced on National Financial Communication's Website by an incorrect version which included a section entitled "Financial Forecast". The incorrect version of the report containing the above referenced section should not have been released as it contains erroneous and misleading forward-looking financial information and should be disregarded. The Company is not prepared, at this time, to provide future oriented revenue forecasts. The Company has requested that National Financial Communications revert to the correct report originally posted on its website and they have done so.

The Company and National Financial Communications regret any confusion or uncertainty that the incorrect report may have caused to its investors.
